Where We Stand: LaRouchePAC Statement on the Flynn Plea

This week's news that retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn accepted a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller over misstatements to FBI agents sent the mainstream media and social media into a frenzy. But presidential transition team diplomacy over which Flynn admitted to misleading FBI agents speaking by phone with then Russian Ambassador Sergey Kisylak was entirely legal. Prior to Trump's election, such authorized (and acknowledged at the time by the State Department!) transition diplomacy would've never been criminalized by agents attempting to trip up presidential aides under questioning -- or Democrats hellbent on pushing the laughable line of Logan Act violations.

Why Flynn chose to mislead FBI investigators, and whether he initially denied elements of what he had to know were NSA/FBI recorded conversations with the Russian Ambassador to protect presidential son in law Jared Kushner or Vice President Mike Pence's public or private statements, remains unknown to the public. What we do know is that the lead FBI investigator reporting directly to since fired director James Comey and his Clintons-compromised deputy Andrew McCabe was rabidly anti-Trump. Peter Strzok sent texts bashing the then candidate in order to impress his mistress Lisa Page, who happened to be the highly partisan Democrat McCabe's secretary. This weekend's disclosure months after Strzok's reassignment led to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) threatening present director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein with contempt of Congress citations, as both had stonewalled written oversight requests for why Strzok had been dropped from Mueller's team. Nunes and many fellow Congressional Republicans are also demanding to know whether Strzok promoted the DNC funded (and 'ex' MI6 agent prepared) Steele Dossier to the Bureau and broader intelligence community out of anti-Trump animus.

As America's Internet newsman Matt Drudge asked, we know the penalty for lying to the FBI, but what is the penalty for when the FBI lies to Congress and to us? As our friend LaRouchePAC's Harley Schlanger says, get ready for more revelations pending regarding the rampant politicization of the FBI and weaponizing of other three letter agencies against Americans under Obama, fabricating 'Russia' allegations to justify surveillance of the Trump team. -- JWS
