Paul Manafort is jailed for ‘witness tampering’ awaiting trial. That was the headline this week as special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation ground on seeking to ‘flip’ a witness against President Donald Trump. The former chairman of Trump’s 2016 campaign and a longtime paid consultant for the Maidan overthrown Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, now resides at Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia, a town 90 miles south of Washington D.C. Manafort is accused of failing to register as a foreign agent for the Ukrainian government, money laundering, and witness tampering.
No evidence of any collusion between the Russian government which supposedly backed Yanukovych — but made no moves to save Manafort’s former boss from being overthrown by a CIA and State Department sponsored coup — and the Trump campaign has been produced by Mueller. This is reality despite Mueller’s relentless pressure on Manafort to ‘flip’ and spare himself incarceration.
