"Barcelona, archives of courtesy, shelter of the foreigners, hospital of the poor, father-land of the brave, vengeance of the offended and pleasant correspondence of firm friendship, and in site, and in beauty, unique"-- Don Miguel de Cervantes, author of "Don Quijote"
Once again we come together as a planet to witness yet another senseless terror attack. This time, the location of choice was beautiful Barcelona on a carefree summer esplanade called Las Ramblas.
As usual, we look at the numbers, at the codes, at the signs. What is similar, what is not similar, to Manchester, to Nice, to name-your-attack-here?
The first thing that popped out, of course, is the date. The 17th of August of 2017. 17-08-17, if written in European format. As my twitter friend noted below, we also saw the body count: 13 dead, 50 wounded (subject to change as this situation is ongoing.) However, I will point out, for several hours, the MSM was reporting only one or two dead. I found this strange because official sources, like El Mundo and RussiaToday had the correct figures posted as soon as government officials announced them.
Now, one thing I DID NOT see while skimming through dozens of news images, were shoeless feet. As you remember from our RM guest, Ole Dammegard, a sure sign of crisis actors in play are photos staged so that shoes are off on one or two feet. I really looked hard for this, but only came across two photos like that. Considering that this was a flip-flop kind of a day, you would expect to see people running with shoes off. But, no, I did not find that to be the case in this instance.
Nevertheless, we have enough codes in those figures of 17, 13, and 50 to rouse suspicion. From our friend W, we know that 17 is the Osiris number, the date of his death. The number 50 might still be important as a Jubilee "New World" kind of a number; this was the figure reported of the dead in the Orlando, Florida attack. Five is also the number of death to enemies and defense from attacks. The 13 goes without saying; the sign of bad luck especially for the Templars. And speaking of Templars, let us remember the historical significance of Barcelona.
People tend to think of Spain as a predominantly Catholic country. Ah, but 'twas not always so! For hundreds of years, Muslims, Jews, and Catholics all managed to live side-by-side just fine. Spain had become a refugee hotspot for the Jewish Diaspora ever since the destruction of the Jerusalem temple in 70 C.E. I would go so far as to say that, next to Palestine itself, Spain's region of Catalonia was arguably one of the most important centers of post-Roman Jewish influence. It is from Western Europe that we see the development of the "Sephardim." The website JewishGen.org tells us:
During their stay in Gerona, the Jews influenced the economic life of the city as money lenders, merchants, craftsmen, bookbinders and businessmen. As a center of religious life where there was intensive study of theology in the 12th and 13th Centuries that led a trend toward mysticism, or Cabala. The development of Cabala and its study was fundamental to Gerona, were the first group of Cabalist experts on the Iberian Peninsula was trained in the first half of the 13th Century.
Those of you who remember my blog about the Mystical Zero will remember that Italy's adoption of the New Math of Arabic numerals was largely influenced by the Kabbalists of Spain. Barcelona was an important center of education and preservation of the ancient wisdom of the Hermetica.
But enough of history. Something else has been brewing in Barcelona for years: the cry for independence.
It just so happens that the good people of Catalonia will be voting on an Exit Referendum on October 1st. And wouldn't you know, but lookie here, plans for building a gas pipeline are in the works. As BusinessInsider.com reported:
There are also plans to build a strategic gas pipeline through the Catalan Pyrenees, linking the Iberian Peninsula with French and Central European networks. The MidCat pipeline should be operational by 2020 and is expected to reduce Europe’s dependency on Russian gas by 40%, diversifying the EU’s sources of supply. If Catalonia, once cut off from the rest of Europe, was plunged into sectarian chaos, it would threaten these essential links – a fact that was not lost on Oriol Junqeuras, the firebrand leader of Esquerra Republicana Catalana (ERC), the second largest party in Catalonia’s government coalition.
You don't suppose somebody would be wanting to interfere with Catalonia's thirst for independence from EU control, hmmm?
We'll have to watch and see what else the autumn of chaos has in store for us. Yesterday, before this attack had even happened, W. remarked to me that the numbers were already "off the charts." When discussing the Dubai tower fire from August 4th, W wrote:
"Also...as I predicted an aug 4 event...the Dubai tower. The numbers are off the charts...I haven't had time to collate them for everyone...you know the towers nickname is the'Torch (ISIS) Tower'! ... The 22 of aug after the eclipse to the 22 nov which is 555 days after the Egypt air crash is the window I'm concerned with."
RussiaToday had excellent coverage of the Barcelona attack. If you care to review the event, here is the full 3-hour report. (And yes, the video is clickable; I don't know why the Youtube thumbnail isn't displayed. More Youtube stupidity, no doubt.)
