“The contact began, Spicer said, on Christmas Day, with Flynn and Kislyak exchanging holiday greetings via text message.
On December 28 — the day before the sanctions announcement — Kislyak sent Flynn a text message asking if they could speak by phone, Spicer said, and Flynn accepted. The call occurred the next day, Spicer said. He denied that it had anything to do with the sanctions.
Spicer said there was nothing unusual about the call, but White House officials told NBC News it was not coordinated with them. It is unclear how the U.S. government became aware of the call, which was first reported by Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, who said there were multiple calls and raised the question of whether the conversations violated the “spirit” of a law that bars private citizens from negotiating with foreign governments.
Ignatius reported that Flynn phoned Russian Ambassador Kislyak several times on Dec. 29, the day the Obama administration announced the expulsion of 35 Russian intelligence operatives and other punitive measures. The AP and Reuters also reported that calls took place on that day. NBC News has not confirmed that information.
A senior intelligence official told NBC News that the U.S. government is aware of other calls between Flynn and other foreign ambassadors, but that he didn’t consider those calls to be improper.
It would not be unusual for the communications of the Russian ambassador to be under surveillance, particularly as the FBI was investigating Russian hacking and other interference in the election campaign, several current and former U.S. officials told NBC News.
White House spokesman John Earnest said the contacts were not necessarily problematic.”
”You can imagine why these kinds of interactions may have taken place, why the incoming national security adviser may have the need to contact the representative of a foreign government based here in Washington D.C.,” Earnest told reporters Friday. “It depends on what they discussed…in terms of whether or not we would have significant objections about those conversations.”
In his column, however, Ignatius invoked the Logan Act. “What did Flynn say, and did it undercut the U.S. sanctions?” wrote Ignatius in his column. “The Logan Act (though never enforced) bars U.S. citizens from correspondence intending to influence a foreign government about ‘disputes’ with the United States. Was its spirit violated?”

The Usual Un-Polite People (aka Shills and Trolls for the Dirty Deep State) vs. Gen. Flynn
So, was the Reykjavik summit leak by someone in either Trump or Flynn's camp, to demonstrate the fruits of Flynn's phone calls with Amb. Kislyak? We don't know the answer to that, but it seems to us rather unlikely that a former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) wouldn't assume that his calls over unsecured lines to the Russian Embassy in Washington would be monitored by the FBI if not the NSA too. Therefore we can chalk this latest leak driven 'scandal' on Ignatius part up to Flynn and Trump's adversaries in the so-called Deep State.
Why the Dirty Deep State and (Al)CIA(eda) Traitors at Langley Fear Flynn
While it is hardly news to the Russians that their Ambassador's phone calls when not speaking over special embassy lines at 2650 Wisconsin Avenue, NWare tapped, it just goes to show that when it comes to protecting sacred sources and methods, those principles go out the window if there's a chance for certain spooks to grind their axes against Flynn. German blogger 'b' at Moon of Alabama explains why the CIA fears Flynn, because the General wants the Pentgon to take back control of the armed drones from Langley. But there's much more to it than that:
“President Obama, major U.S. intelligence heads, neoconservatives, the British government, Ukrainian “nationalist (aka fascist) circles and the Clinton campaign conspire against Trump and try to derail his announced policy changes. Trump has argued for better relations with Russia and for a concentrated fight in Syria and Iraq against ISIS and other Takfiris and Islamists. This endangers Obama’s legacies of starting a new cold war with Russia and of pampering al Qaeda and ISIS to overthrow the Syrian government.
Two fights within the U.S. government are being waged within this larger context. One is the fight between the CIA and the U.S. military over spying competence and lethal operations. CIA Director Brennan, who was and is Obama’s consigliere and a Saudi operative, has waged a military campaign in Afghanistan, Yemen, Iraq, Syria and several other countries.
The CIA’s assassinations by drones is an operational issue which the military believes should be under its exclusive control. On the other side military special forces missions have hindered CIA intelligence gathering. The CIA support for and training of various Takfiri militants in Syria, Iraq and Libya is against the interest of the soldiers who eventually will have to fight these groups. The incoming National Security Advisor Flynn warned against the CIA’s policies back in 2012 when he led the Defense Intelligence Agency. U.S. special forces then sabotaged such CIA operations in Syria.
With Flynn coming in as National Security Advisor the CIA is in danger of losing this fight. Flynn will argue for a CIA that only collects and analyzes and will likely try to move all operative businesses to the military Joint Special Operations Command.
Today [Thursday January 12, 2017] the CIA used its unofficial spokesperson to (again) warn Flynn off.”
In other words, Flynn knows that the CIA has been arming jihadist enemies of the United States and the (post)Western world for years. And he is prepared to use that knowledge once he's in the White House steps away from the Oval Office as leverage to start purging the CIA from the leakers desperately flailing away at Trump. RogueMoney guest London Paul also spoke in his interview with V this past weekend about a coming purge of the bankster cabal which Trump and his team are keeping quiet about before taking office. The targets of said purges would presumably include terrorist suppliers around current CIA Director John Brennan or loyalists of his predecessor Leon Panetta, whose schemes after the Arab Spring led to the deaths of four Americans including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens at Benghazi and the conversion of Libya into a chaotic arms dump for the wars in Syria and Mali. Incidentally, last week the Tobruk based government in eastern Libya backed by the Egyptians hosted the Chief of the Russian Federation's Armed Forces, Gen. Valery Gerasimov.
The notorious 2012 DIA memo which was likely drafted by someone working for Flynn and obtained by Judicial Watch and released in 2015 details the expectation in the US IC at that time that U.S. allies Saudi Arabia and Qatar would fund what eventually became the Islamic State takeover of the eastern Syrian/western Iraq region:
“The document shows that as early as 2012, U.S. intelligence predicted the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS), but instead of clearly delineating the group as an enemy, the report envisions the terror group as a U.S. strategic asset.
While a number of analysts and journalists have documented long ago the role of western intelligence agencies in the formation and training of the armed opposition in Syria, this is the highest level internal U.S. intelligence confirmation of the theory that western governments fundamentally see ISIS as their own tool for regime change in Syria. The document matter-of-factly states just that scenario.
Forensic evidence, video evidence, as well as recent admissions of high-level officials involved (see former Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford’s admissions here and here), have since proven the State Department and CIA’s material support of ISIS terrorists on the Syrian battlefield going back to at least 2012 and 2013 (for a clear example of “forensic evidence”: see UK-based Conflict Armament Research’s report which traced the origins of Croatian anti-tank rockets recovered from ISIS fighters back to a Saudi/CIA joint program via identifiable serial numbers).”
Gosh, it's almost as if Natsec punditry attracts deranged sociopathic losers or something.
— Fake John Schindler (@5150committee) November 4, 2016
“Former spook John Schindler pronounced on Twitter Thursday night that the CIA is trying to take out President-elect Donald Trump before he is sworn in as president next Friday, January 20. Schindler has long accused Trump of being a Russian stooge.
Schindler’s bio for his Observer column reads, “John Schindler is a security expert and former National Security Agency analyst and counterintelligence officer. A specialist in espionage and terrorism, he’s also been a Navy officer and a War College professor. He’s published four books and is on Twitter at @20committee.”
Schindler made his comment about the CIA in reaction to a report by Washington Post columnist David Ignatius that an Obama administration offical told him Trump’s national security adviser retired Lt. General Michael Flynn made several calls to Russia’s U.S. ambassador the day last month that President Barack Obama imposed sanctions on Russia for allegedly interfering in the presidential election to benefit Trump.”

Although Mike Flynn Jr. was removed from Trump's transition team over some of his more controversial tweets, he still is on Twitter supporting his father and Trump.
Trump Derangement Syndrome: Another @20CONmittee Meltdown on Twitter
One more interesting detail re: Flynn that emerged Saturday night: John R. Schindler, the former U.S. Naval War College professor who was forced to resign from his teaching post at USNWC over intimate selfies leaked on the Internet and other possible issues, went on an extended Twitter rant accusing Flynn and his son Mike Flynn Jr. of being 'traitors'. Schindler also ominously tweeted that they deserve 'a traitor's fate' and in case anyone had doubts about what that means, in another tweet, 'traitors deserve a bullet'. We shall see, in light of his history of Twitter meltdowns and other problems, if Schindler will receive a visit from the United States Secret Service (USSS) to evaluate if he was making an authentic threat on the life of the U.S. National Security Adviser, or more likely just drunk-tweeting.

As we've written previously in our Seven Days in December/January series on the ongoing, FAILING soft coup attempt against Trump, John Schindler and his 'tweeps' like former British rock groupie and ex-Tory MP Louise Mensch are part of a nexus that has aggressively pushed the ludicrous 'dodgy dossier' of ex-MI6 Christopher Steele alleging Trump's a full-fledged, blackmailed Russian intelligence asset. We may have more to say about how the dirty Deep State's little psyops schemes are about to blow up in their faces, but we'll wait on events and further revelations to confirm certain investigative hunches of ours.
